As soon as you arrive, you’ll be captivated by the scent of pines and eucalyptus trees and by the abundance of this place with its many activities.

A visit to Fort Royal, the former home of the Man in the Iron Mask, is a must and will help you understand the strategic role played by the island.

Don’t miss the island itself, the Museum of the Sea housed within its fortified walls, which tells you all about the history of the site.

Our advice

The best way to discover its true nature is undoubtedly to follow the marked trails, which offer a botanical and historical discovery of the site.

You can walk from the Batéguier Lake with its many species of migratory birds to Pointe de la Convention to discover the different plant species.
